Lowell Douglas Howard

Mr. Lowell Douglas "Doug" Howard, age 84, of New Richmond, IN. passed away Monday morning August 17, 2020 at home following an extended illness. Doug was born February 9, 1936 in Cusick, KY., the son of Lowell Grant Howard and Margaret W. (White) Howard and was educated in Madison County KY. Doug married Minnie Moffitt on December 22, 1963 and they made their home in Iowa for a while and then Indiana. They had managed several independent businesses through the years but his favorite work was building furniture and crafting. Doug was a member of the Hickory Bible Church in New Richmond, IN. and he loved to fish, hunt and work with 4H kids and raising goats.

Doug is survived by his wife Minnie Howard of New Richmond, IN. and sisters, Peggy (husband John) Collins of Lexington, KY. and Glenna (husband Greg) Davis of Blowing Rock, NC and many, many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and friends. Doug was preceded in death by his parents, brother William Howard and his sisters Victoria, Kaye and Rebecca.

The family has chosen cremation and due to concerns of Covid 19 will have a memorial service for family and friends at a later date and the ashes will be placed in the Howard family lot in Kentucky. Shoemaker Funeral Home is honored to assist the family with these arrangements.
