Lucy L. Moore

Mrs. Lucy L. Moore, age 96, of rural Marshall, IN. passed away at home in the company of her family Sunday afternoon June 3, 2018. Lucy was born on May 21,1922 in Summer Shade, KY. the daughter of Floyd N. and Birdie (nee: Simmons) DeMumbrum.

Lucy married Charles M. Moore on January 21, 1949 at the Hillsboro Church of the Nazarene in Hillsboro, IN. and he preceded her in death on April 1, 2001. Lucy is survived by her three children, David Jolly and wife Shirley of Marshall, IN.; Daniel Moore and wife M. Jenell of Veedersburg, IN. and James Moore and wife Lana of Montezuma, IN. She is also survived by her 8 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren. Lucy was also receded in death by her two brothers, Samuel and Joe DeMumbrum and two sisters, Marie Smith and Zula DeMumbrum.

Lucy was a devoted wife and mother. She also helped to raise two of her grandchildren. She was famous for her fried chicken and mashed potatoes. She was a cook for the Shades State Park Inn, the Country Kitchen restaurant and Turkey Run High School. She worked along side her husband Charles in whatever work he was doing and carried her half of the load and was always willing to help other family and friends. Lucy was very active in her church and was a member of that church from her wedding day in 1949 until her death in 2018. She also loved to go to Wallace on Monday nights to listen to gospel singing at the Highway 341 café. Lucy will be missed by her large family and friends and her passing leaves a large void in many lives.

Lucy's family will receive visitors at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, 202 Bratton Rd., Waynetown, In. on Thursday evening June 7th from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Friday June 8th at the Hillsboro church of the Nazarene, 453 S. Highway 341, Hillsboro, IN. and officiated by Pastor Greg McDonald. Burial will follow and take place at Waynetown Masonic Cemetery.
