Lyman Anson Beckley, 94, of Crawfordsville, died November 17, 2011, at Hooverwood Nursing Home, Indianapolis.
Born January 21, 1917, in Illinois, he was the son of Leonard and Bertha (Brakefield) Beckley.
Mr. Beckley graduated from Greencastle High School in 1935, and worked as a farmer, truck driver, Greencastle city policeman, Indiana State Trooper, and an insurance adjuster for Farm Bureau Insurance, retiring after thirty years as chief adjuster for the northern half of Indiana. During World War II, Mr. Beckley was a ship's radio operator for the U.S. Navy in the Atlantic theater.
He was a longtime member of the Greencastle Masonic Lodge F&AM.
Survivors include a son, Lyman A. Beckley (Anne) of Brazil, Indiana; two daughters, Lucinda F. Beckley of Oakland, California and Carol S. Jack of Fishers, Indiana; two sisters, Virginia Fulton of Indianapolis and Dorlan May of Sanford, Fla.; and one brother, Wendell Beckley of Tipton, Iowa. Other survivors include grandsons Michael A. Jack (Kim), Phil Beckley, Colin Beckley and Ben Beckley, and granddaughters Christina Marcuson (Greg) and Rachel Latta (Chase); in addition, survivors include great-grandchildren Luca Jack, Caelan Jack, Gabriella Guy, Mikhail Marcuson, Adam Marcuson and Molly Marcuson; and many nieces and nephews.
Family members preceding him in death include two spouses, Virginia Beckley and Dorothy Beckley; longtime companion Mary Eileen "Boots" Young; a sister, Evelyn Leveritt; two brothers, Orville Beckley and John E. Beckley, and; two grandsons, Nicholas Beckley and Gregory Beckley.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, November 21, at Calcutta Cemetery in Brazil, Indiana. Cremation and funeral services are being managed by Powers Priebe Funeral Homes in Crawfordsville.
