Margaret Martha Blue

Mrs. Margaret M. (Hedrick) Blue, 93, died June 28th, 2017, at St. Anthony Nursing Center in Lafayette, where she had been a resident since October 2016.She was born January 15th, 1924, to Margaret E. (Nicholson) and Hiram E. Hedrick near Alamo in Montgomery County. She married James R. blue on February 5th, 1943, in Rockville, Indiana.He preceded her in death in 2005.

Margaret and her husband, "Bob", had lived in Alamo, New Market, and Crawfordsville, during their 62 years of marriage. She had lived most of her life near Alamo and was a graduate of Alamo High School in 1942.She had lived in Lafayette since 2009.

She retired from the Crawfordsville Holiday Inn after 17 years of working in the restaurant and also worked at Alamo High School.She enjoyed reading, crocheting, and loved making quilts for the family.She was a great cook and enjoyed fresh fruit and vegetables from her garden on Ladoga Road.

Margaret is survived by her daughter: Margaret I. "Peggy" Hicks of Lafayette; her sons: James E. (Donna) Blue of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; and Steven (Elizabeth) Blue of Chewelah, Washington.She is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one sister; 5 brothers; and her son-in-law; Ralph Hicks.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Saturday, July 8th, at Powers-Priebe Funeral Home, Crawfordsville.Burial will follow in the Masonic Cemetery at Waynetown.Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from Noon until the service time.In lieu of flowers, memorials in Margaret's memorymay be sent to: The Alamo Christian Church, 208 E.
