Mrs. Margaret I. Canine-Andrews, 98, Crawfordsville, passed away peacefully on Friday morning, December 22, 2017, in the Hickory Creek of Crawfordsville.She was bornApril 21st, 1919, in Montgomery County, to Samuel and Myrtle L. (Whitecotten) Priebe.She first married David Glenn Canine onJuly 16th, 1937, in the Freedom Church, near Waveland. He preceded her in death in 1986. She later married Roland Andrews onFebruary 27th, 2001, W. Palm Beach, Florida. He also preceded her in death.
Margaret was a Retired Teacher and Pastor's Wife. She taught Language Arts in Blanchester, Ohio; was a 6th grade teacher in Hazel Park, Michigan; taught English and Speech in Calumet Baptist High School in Griffith, Indiana; and taught at W. Palm Beach College.. She wasalso a Public Speaker, speaking at community Bible classes; Area Ladies' Retreats; was a State-wide workshop leader and main speaker in Ohio and Indiana at Pastors' conferences, speaking to the wives. She received her BS in English andPsychology, and her MA in Education, all at Wayne StateUniversity, Detroit, Michigan. Her memberships include the Eastside Baptist Church in Crawfordsville.In her free time she enjoyed walking and taking hikes.
She is survived by herdaughter: Pat (Warren) Allen, Crawfordsville; Dr. Samuel (June) Canine, Killeen, Texas; and Dr. John (Nanci) Canine, Lake Orion, Michigan.Also surviving are her sisters: Mary (Bob) Gooding, Crawfordsville; Martha Greve, Greenwood; Marge Younkin, Crawfordsville; 13 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Inaddition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her daughter: Becky Overholt; herbrothers: Don, Charles, and Junior Priebe; her parents; and 3great-granchildren.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 PM Tuesday,December 26th, at theEastsideBaptist Church, 2000 Traction Road, Crawfordsville, with Dr. John Canine officiating.Burial will follow in the Freedom Cemetery, near Waveland. Friends may call at the church onTuesdayfrom 11:00 AM until the service time.Memorials in Margaret's name may be sent to the Eastside Baptist Church.
