Margaret Louise Young

Margaret (Peg) Louise (Kitts) Young, 89, went to our Lord on July 17, 2015. A celebration of Peg's life will held at the First Christian Church, Crawfordsville, Indiana at 11:00 a.m. on August 29, 2015. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations to the Special Olympics be made in her name.

Born April 10, 1926 in Crawfordsville, Indiana to Myrtle Georgia (Bayless) and James Arthur Kitts, Peg grew up the youngest of 6 siblings. She graduated from Crawfordsville High school in 1943. She married George Robert Young on July 25, 1946 in Crawfordsville, Indiana. She received her Bachelors in Chemistry from University of Indiana, June 1948 and her Masters in Secondary Education from the University of Missouri - Kansas City in 1974.

Peg was a long time resident of Prairie Village, Kansas, from 1962 until 2010 at which time she moved to Columbia, Missouri. In 2012 she moved to Spring, TX where she lived until her passing.

In addition to raising her four children, Peg was a passionate teacher. She taught chemistry and was also the science education administrator for the Kansas City, Missouri School District. After retiring, she continued to teach at Penn Valley Community College. She was involved with encouraging students to pursue the sciences. She was very involved with the National Science Teachers Association and programs such as Energy and Man's Environment. She was also involved with children with special needs and served as a camp counselor.

She also loved music throughout her life, a passion she conferred to her grandchildren. She played the violin, viola, bass violin, organ and piano. In later years she was an active member of the Leewood singers.

Peg was preceded in death by her 3 brothers, 2 sisters and daughter, Laura Jane Adams. She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-laws, Dr. & Mrs. Charles A. Young, Mr. & Mrs. Gregory A. Young and Mr. & Mrs. Roger P. Young; eight grandchildren, Amanda M Kelly, Robert C. Young, Nathan A. Young, Ryan P. Adams, Sean A. Q. Young, Madison R. Young, Natalie A. Young, Colten W. Young; and 6 great-grandchildren, Madeline Young, Andrew Kelly, Addison Adams, Aiden Kelly, Reece Adams & Annabelle Kelly.
