Mrs. MariAnn (Houston) Kessler passed away Thursday, January 28, 2016, at Bickford Cottage surrounded by her family. She was born in Crawfordsville on December 2, 1932, to Paul and Beulah (Coffing) Houston.
She was a Homemaker and a Farm Wife who helped with her husband's livestock and grain operations. She enjoyed working with plants and flowers and provided seasonal part-time help at Flowers and Things, and Davidson's Greenhouse. She was a 1950 graduate of Crawfordsville High School; an active member of the Whitesville Christian Church and its Ladies Circle. MariAnn was also a member of the Country Friend Home Extension Club and a long time election poll worker for the Democratic Party.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Wayne Kessler, whom she married December 3, 1950, in Whitesville; her children: Toni Michele (David) Newgent, Jini Charisse Kessler, and Mark Wayne Kessler; her brother: Lawrence "Sam" (Mary Joyce) Houston; her grandchildren: Scott (Jill) Kessler, Kylene (Dwayne) Simpson, Kyle (Mallory) Kessler, and Elizabeth Norris; her great-grandchildren: Clayton, Claire, Carter, and Colby Kessler; Ryder Kessler, and Malcom Simpson. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers: Paul Houston, Jr., Donald Houston; and her sister: Eudena Houston.
Cremation was chosen with a "Celebration of Life Service" being held on Saturday, February 6, 2016, at Noon in the Whitesville Christian Church, 3603 S.. Ladoga Rd., Crawfordsville, with Rev. Mike Whitacre officiating. The family will greet friends at the church on Saturday from 9:00 AM until the service time.
