Mrs. Marietta Arlington, 93, formerly of Waynetown and Crawfordsville, passed away at 11:45 pm Tuesday October 14, 2014 at Williamsburg Nursing Home Crawfordsville, In.
Marietta was born on March 2, 1921 on the family farm east of Waynetown, the daughter of Verne and Carol Ruth (nee: Marcrum) Remley.
While growing up she attended the Wesley Methodist Church and graduated from Waynetown High School with the class of 1942. She then graduated from Lake View Hospital School of nursing in 1943 and joined the Army Nurse Corp. in 1943 serving as a Second Lieutenant at Fletcher General Hospital in Cambridge, Ohio. She also worked in nursing at Culver Hospital in Crawfordsville and in Virginia, Florida and Texas before her retirement. Her memberships include the Alamo Order of Eastern star and the Christian Motor Cyclist in Texas. She was married to Paul Eugene Arlington in 1952 and he is deceased.
Marietta is survived by her daughters, Karen (George T. Sr.) McCann of El Paso, TX, and Barbara J. Sams of Spotswood, N.J.; 5 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Dale and Carl Remley.
Funeral services for Marietta Arlington will be held at noon Monday Oct. 20, 2014 at Shoemaker Funeral Home with the Rev. Duane Mycroft officiating. burial will follow at Wesley Cemetery east of Waynetown, IN. Friends and family can pay their respects from 10 am until the services at noon Monday.
