Mr. Marion Eugene Stevens, 85, Crawfordsville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning at his home surrounded by his family. He was born March 15, 1926 on a farm west of Crawfordsville to Raymond O. and Doris (Swank) Stevens. He married Maxine Blessing on May 29, 1948 in Crawfordsville. She survives.

Mr. Stevens was retired from Fairfield Manufacturing, Lafayette, where he had been a machinist for 23 years. He also had worked for the Farmer's Creamery, Crawfordsville; farmed and did custom hay baleing; and drove school bus for Southmont schools for 23 years. His memberships include the Christ Lutheran Church, Crawfordsville; Alamo Masonic Lodge #144, serving as Worshipful Master several times; Alamo Eastern Star # 498, serving as Worthy Patron several times; Past member and Commander of the York Rite #25 Commandary; Waveland American Legion; WW II Army veteran where his service included serving in Hiroshima, Japan. He attended Alamo schools.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Elaine (Dick) Trout, Kathy (Mike) Hesler, Sheila (Dan) Sering, Terry (Tim) Surber, and Brian (Connie) Stevens, all of Crawfordsville. He is also survived by an honorary son, Bruce Ballard, Indianapolis; a niece, Tresha Meadows; 13 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, several step-grandchildren, and several loving foster children. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Marie Cox; a nephew, Homer Cox; grandsons, Trent Surber and Wesley Stevens; a brother-in-law, Gordon Blessing.

Funeral services are planned for Monday, October 3, at 11:00 AM, at the Christ Lutheran Church, 300 W. South Boulevard, Crawfordsville, with Rev. Lowell Anderson officiating. Burial will be at Indian Creek Hill Cemetery, New Market with military honors being conducted by the VFW and American Legion Posts of Crawfordsville. Friends may call at the church on Sunday, October 2, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM. A Masonic Memorial service will be conducted at 8:00 PM on Sunday at the church.
