Mr. Marion David West, 79, Crawfordsville, died peacefully surrounded by his loved ones, on Tuesday, April 23, at 9:45 PM in the Brandywine Nursing Center, Greenfield, Indiana. He was born March 24, 1934, in Boone County, to Cecil E. and Effie Mae (Eubank) West. He first married Ruth Oyler. She preceded him in death in 2005. He later married Christine Giering on July 25, 1987, in Anderson, Indiana.. She also preceded him in death in April 2011.
Mr. West retired after 27 1/2 years from First National Bank, later Bank One, of Crawfordsville, where he had been the Vice President. He was a 1953 graduate of Zionsville High School; was a United States Air Force Veteran, serving from 1954 until 1958; a Life Member of the Crawfordsville American Legion Post #72, where he had served for 10 years in its Honor Guard and enjoyed being responsible for folding and presenting the Flag at the gravesite; was a member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association; member of the Montgomery County Pioneer Tractor Association; and a member of the Alamo Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by his children: Alan J. West, Pittsburg, Pennsylvania; Anecea (Brian) Woodrow, Charlottesville, Indiana; Jan (Matt) Pink, Terre Haute; his companion: Pat Plank, Crawfordsville; and grandchildren: Ryan and Nicole Lind. In addition to his wives, he was preceded in death by his parents and his 1/2 sister: Ilean Starr.
Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00 PM Saturday, April 27, at Powers-Priebe Funeral Home, Crawfordsville, with Rev. Michael Whitacre officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill North Cemetery, Crawfordsville. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from Noon until 3:00 PM. Military Rites will be conducted by the Crawfordsville American Legion and VFW Posts. Memorials may be made to: Whitesville Christian Church, 3603 S. Ladoga Rd., Crawfordsville, IN 47933.
