Marjorie Thompson

d. February 8, 2013

Marjorie Thompson, 90, a wonderful aunt and lovely person, peacefully slipped away on February 8, 2013. Tommi, as she was known to family and friends, was born on June 22, 1922 in Kingman, IN to Dee and Nella (Harrison) Thompson, who owned and operated a small department store in Kingman. She had an elder brother Leland, who died in 1928, and sister Margaret Thompson Muller (Lullus), who died in 2008. Margaret's husband, a surgeon in Indianapolis, died in 1982.

Marjorie graduated from Kingman High School in 1940 and from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana in 1944. After graduation, she worked in various jobs, staying at most for many years. One of her first jobs was to organize theatrical productions at locations around the country, traveling to communities and staying for extended periods, handling many aspects of guiding community groups in presenting public performances.

She eventually moved to Chicago and spent the rest of her years living in the Lincoln Park area. She worked in administration for Parker Personnel, Arthur Andersen, and Reuters, and in customer relations for JCPenney.

Tommi never married but was the best aunt her lucky nieces and nephews (Margaret and Lu Muller's children) could have asked for. She generously gave gifts of travel. Everything was "within walking distance". Her love of travel, food, the casinos (penny slots), midnight viewings of audience participation shows, and living life to its fullest defined this wonderful woman.

Tommi studied massage and tax preparation and donated her services in both to others in her community.

Tommi's sharp mind, sense of humor, generous spirit, fierce independence, and love of life will be sorely missed by her family and friends.

Survivors include nieces Sharon Concannon of Carmel, IN, Patricia (David) Boesche of Jeffersonville, IN, Mary Spanke (John) of Carmel, IN, Judith Gibbons (Thomas) of Palos Park, IL, nephew David Muller of Westfield, IN, and several great-nieces and nephews. Nephews who predeceased her are Stephen (1967), Michael (1999), and James (1977) Muller.

Visitation will be held Sunday, February 10, 2013 from 12-2pm at Sanders Funeral Care, 203 S 1st Street, in Kingman with funeral service immediately following. Rev. Kenneth Majors officiating. Burial will be at Wolf Creek Church Cemetery. Share memories and condolences online at www.sandersfuneralcare.com
