Mark Alan Keele, age 64 of Covington, went home to be with the Lord at 10:15 pm on July 28, 2022 at his son's home, surrounded by his loving family.
Mark was born on November 2, 1957 in Danville, Illinois to Kenton & Janis (Hollowell) Keele. He graduated from North Vermillion High School in 1975.
He married April Dawn Julian August 1, 1981 and they later divorced in 1995. She preceded him in death on July 4, 2019. He married Rickie Sue Colgrove on March 1, 2003. He leaves behind his mother, Janis Keele; his loving and devoted wife of 19 years, Rickie Keele; his children, Tyler Keele, Tanesa Keele (Kenneth Brinegar), and Trey Keele, all of Covington; three brothers, Steven Keele of Greencastle, Doug Keele (Trish) of Avon, and Matthew Keele (Leah) of Covington; a sister, Susan Cadman of Avon; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins; and his two grandsons, Bryson Jeffrey and Benjamin Keele, whom he loved more than anything, will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his father, Kenton Keele; his maternal and paternal grandparents; a brother-in-law, Wayne Cadman; and a sister-in-law, Robin Keele.
Mark worked for Chem-Cast for a short time, worked at Naaco for 10 years, then became a security guard for Securitas before going on disability due to complications from his diabetes. He was a real trooper for bravely battling diabetes for 30 years. He was a self-taught musician and played lead guitar for several groups such as Charlie Keele and the Rhythm Rangers, The Country Dropouts, and The Keele family band. Even though his ongoing disease cost him a limb, a finger, his hearing and his eyesight in one eye, he kept his faith and love for God and his family alive and well. His voice was as beautiful as an angel and his voice was always a joy to be heard. Now it can be heard in the heavenly choir. He was very talented with the piano and any string instrument he picked up. His son Tyler was a loving and devoted son and caretaker and did a wonderful job taking care of his dad for 3 months. Mark is fondly remembered as "kind, gentle, loving, and friendly." He always had a hug and a smile for anyone who needed it. The family would like to lovingly thank Guardian Angel Hospice, his nurse Christina and aids Beth and Brianna for their care and attention to Mark and to Chaplain Tom Covington for the spiritual care and guidance he provided through this process.
