Martha Evelyn (Benge) McCullough

Martha Evelyn (Benge) McCullough, age 77 of Crawfordsville, passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2020 at Franciscan Health Lafayette. She was a resident at Ben Hur Health & Rehabilitation and passed away due to complications from Covid-19. She was born in Lebanon, Indiana on April 27, 1943 to the late Henry Hansford and Hazel Mae (Maddox) Benge.

Martha attended New Ross Schools. On December 23, 1960, she married Russell Jewell McCullough, who preceded her in death on June 5, 2019. She spent her years as a homemaker and worked at the Ladoga Nursing Home. She enjoyed working with ceramics, making crafts, buying jewelry, going shopping, and camping.

Martha is survived by a son, Russell J. “Rusty” McCullough Jr; two daughters, Kristina (James) Sowers and Mary Ellen “Ellie” Johnson, all of Crawfordsville; a brother, James (Marjorie) Benge of Crawfordsville; a sister, Rebecca (Wayne) Shaw of Mace; two grandchildren, Andrew Sowers and Chelsea (Dustin) Morman; a great-grandson Ezra Morman; and several nieces and nephews.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Russell; a grandson, Mason Wall; four brothers, Cecil “Buddy”, Virgil “Ricky”, Samuel “Sam”, and Donald “Pujer” Benge; and a sister, Mary Riley.
