Martha Ellen Morrison

Mrs. Martha Ellen Morrison, 85, Crawfordsville, passed away Sunday, April 9th, at 10:15 PM in the Franciscan Health Crawfordsville Hospital. She was born December 7th, 1931 in Crawfordsville to Kenneth A. and Christine (Linn) Ward. She married Donald M. Morrison in Crawfordsville on July 10th, 1949. He preceded her in death on May 16th, 2000.

Martha Ellen had worked several years in the late 1960s at the Sportsman Shop and then in 1967 became the Co-Owner with her husband of Morrison Automotive, retiring in 1991. She was a member of the Whitesville Christian Church where her family had been one of the founding families. She attended Whitesville School and graduated in 1949 from Crawfordsville High School. She had been a member of the Athens Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star; was a Pink Lady; was a Board Member of the Vanity Theater; and in her free time enjoyed cooking, baking, crafts; sewing, having made 300 bears from donated coats; and in general doing lots of volunteer work in the community. She also was very involved in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren's activities.

She is survived by her daughter: Linda (Steve) Powers, Crawfordsville; her son: Greg (Nancy) Morrison, Crawfordsville; her grandchildren: Tiffany (Mike) Roost; Michael (Nicole) Morrison; Natalie (Michael) Ward; Alyssa (Ed) McGaughey; great-grandchildren: Steven Roost, Mackenzie Roost, Tristan Roost, Lauren Morrison, Garrett Morrison; Carter Morrison; Dean McGaughey; Elouise McGaughey; Mason Ward; and Riley Ward. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; and her sisters: Donas and Evelyn Ward.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 AM Friday, April 14th, at the Whitesville Christian Church, 3603 S. Ladoga Road, Crawfordsville, with Rev. Michael Whitacre officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill South Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Thursday, April 13th, from 4:30 PM until 8:30 PM.
