Martha Neier

Mrs. Martha Jean Neier, 85, Crawfordsville, passed away Saturday, August 31, at 8:02 AM, in the St. Elizabeth East Hospital, Lafayette. She was born September 28, 1927, in Parke County, to Clay and Sylvia (McClain) Smiley. She married Darrell T. Neier June 6, 1947, in Indianapolis. He preceded her in death in 1985.

Mrs. Neier had worked at RR Donnelleys and sold Avon Products for many years. She was a 1945 graduate of Green Township High School.

She is survived by her daughter: Jeanette Sheets, Crawfordsville; grandchildren: Leslie and Justin Neier; Michael and John Sheets; great grandchildren: Brett and Katie Neier; Michael, Jr., Augusta, Kayley, and Kyla Sheets. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, son: James Neier, who died in 2006; sisters: Marcinia McCutcheon, Eloise Van Hook Phipps, Evelyn Northcutt; and brother: Melvin Smiley

Cremation was selected. A memorial service will be planned by the family at a later date. Powers-Priebe Funeral Home is assisting with the cremation.
