Mr. Martin L. Pruitt, 91, New Market, passed away peacefully in his home on Wednesday,December 13th, 2017.He was born October28th, 1926, in Waveland, to Langdon and Laura (Thomas) Pruitt.He married Shirley Joan Steele in New Market onAugust 17th, 1947.She preceded him in death in 2012.

Martin retired in 1988 after 43 years with RR Donnelleys, having worked in the Bindery Department. He was a WW II U.S. Army Engineer Veteran; a member of the American Legion Post #72; a member of the New Market United Methodist Church; a member of the Independent Order of Forestors; a member of the Senior Citizens; and attended New Ross Schools.In his free time he enjoyed gardening and traveling.

He is survived by his children: Sue Foy, Crawfordsville; Richard Pruitt, Rosedale; Rita (Bill) Guffey, North Vernon; and Robert Pruitt, Riley, Indiana.Also surviving are 4 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and 4 step-great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his sister: Dorothy Stark; his brothers: Ronald, Robert, and Warren; his granddaughter: Marsha Foy; and his great-granddaughter: Angelica Pruitt.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM Saturday,December 16th, at Powers-Priebe Funeral Home.Burial will follow in the Oak Hill North Cemetery.Friends may call at the funeral home onSaturdayfrom 10:00 AM until the service time. Military rites will be conducted at the funeral home onSaturdayby the Crawfordsville American Legion Honor Guard and the U. S. Army.Memorials in Martin's memory may be made to the New Market United Methodist Church, PO Box 326, New Market, IN 47965.
