Marvin Junior Cotham

August 31, 1929 — June 4, 2017

Mr. Marvin Junior Cotham, age 87, passed away at 10:30 am Sunday June 4th at the home of his daughter Vickie Lynd in Waynetown, In, where he and his wife had been staying in recent weeks.

Mr. Cotham was born on August 31, 1929 at Thayer, MO. the son of Marvin D. and Dora Belle (nee: Henson) Cotham and attended school in Thayer, MO. As a young man he went to work on his father's farm and then served in the US Army during the Korean War with the rank of Cpl. When he returned from overseas he married Nina Edmonds on October 24, 1952 and they eventually settled in Pontiac, IL. to raise their family. Marvin was a hardworking man who loved the Lord and built his own company of drywall finishing to provide for his family and he delighted in hunting, fishing and being with his grandchildren. Following his retirement he and Nina moved to Rockville, IN. Marvin was a devoted member of the Church of Christ and a lifetime member of the VFW in Pontiac, IL.

Marvin is survived by his wife of 64 years, Nina Cotham of Rockville, IN.; three daughters, Beverly (Wayne) McPherson of Fisher, IL; Vickie (Dennis) Lynd of Waynetown, IN., and Donna (Bill) Curry of Lexington, IL.along with two sisters: Betty McCameron of Lenior City, TN. and Mildred Barthlamees of Thayer, MO. He will be greatly missed by his 9 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, 5 sisters, 10 brothers, 3 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Funeral services for Marvin Cotham will be held at 2:00 pm Friday June 9, 2017 at Shoemaker Fuenral Home, 202 Bratton Rd. Waynetown, IN. and officiated by his grandson Nathan Lynd. Burial will follow in the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive guests for 1 hour prior to the services.
