Mrs. Mary L. Davis, age 81, passed away at IU Methodist Hospital at 11:30 PM Friday June 1, 2012. Born on February 10, 1931 near Yountsville, In. she was the daughter of John R. and Mattie J. (Parks) Stevens.
She attended Alamo High School but left before graduation to marry and raise her family. While her children attended Southmont High School she also enrolled and graduated with honors.She formerly worked in production at Impex Mfg. and worked in special services at the Crawfordsville District Public Library.
She married James J. Davis on February 14, 1948 at Mellott, In and he preceded her in death on March 16, 1986.
Survivors include 4 sons: Ronald D. and Sharon Davis of Hope Hull, Alabama; Samuel L and Lori Davis of Jacksonville, Florida; William R. Davis of Crawfordsville, In.; Edward D. and Cheryl Davis of Long Beach, Mississippi. 3 daughters: Debbie and John Hedrick of Crawfordsville, In.; Dianna and Bill Koerner of Lebanon, In. and Deanna and Ron Norman of Edwardsburg, Michigan. Also a neice she raised Becky and David Ingram of Bartow Florida.
1 sister: Mrs. Barb Schaeffer of Bartow, Florida. 16 Grandchildren and 23 Great Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband daughter in law: terri Davis, nephew: Nick Hampton and 5 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Tuesday June 5th at Shoemaker Funeral Home with Rev. Alan Goff officiating. Burial will be in Indian Creek Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at the funeral home.
