Mary W. Decker, 99, Crawfordsville, passed away Wednesday, March 4th, at 3:55 PM, in the Lane House Nursing Home. She was born October 18th, 1915, in New Market, to Albert and Hazel (Stump) Weir. She first married Roscoe Nelson and later married Wilbur R. Decker, on October 8th, 1938, in Lafayette. Wilbur preceded her in death in 1980.
Mrs. Decker had worked at Sommer Metalcraft for 36 years, 20 of those years as a Supervisor in the Oven Racks Department. She was a 62 year member of the Milligan Memorial Presbyterian Church; attended New Market Schools; was a member of the Senior Citizens; and in her free time enjoyed playing Bingo and "Bid Euchre".
She is survived by her daughters: Sharon (Don) Perkins and Joan McCloud, both of Linden. Also surviving is her sister: Opal Cathey, Detroit, Michigan; 15 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren; and 16 great great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son: David Nelson; and her daughter: Janet Nelson.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Saturday, March 7th, at Powers-Priebe Funeral Home with Rev. Gene McVay officiating. Burial will follow in the Freedom Cemetery, near Waveland. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday, from Noon until the service time.
