Mary Ruth Dukes

Mary Ruth (Cox) Dukes, age 89, of Kingman and formerly of Oakwood, IL passed away at her daughter’s home in Tilton, IL on Friday, July 6, 2018. She was born in Danville, IL on February 12, 1929 to the late Ross Baker & Genevieve Irene (Chaffee) Cox.

Mary Ruth attended Oakwood Schools and married Ernest Eugene Dukes on June 21, 1949 in Danville, IL. He preceded her in death on January 31, 2016. Throughout the years she worked in sales at Kresges and Meis Brothers and was a punch press operator at General Electric. She was a member of the Kingman Methodist Church. She was involved in many activities at the Casa del Sol Park in Donna Texas, volunteered with hospice, and enjoyed sewing, crafts, collecting dolls, was an avid reader and loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by two sons, Larry (Chris) Dukes of Oregon and Ben (Karen) Dukes of Kingman; a daughter, Karen (Tom Lomax Sr.) Nelson of Tilton, IL; two brothers, Joe (Marie) Cox of North Carolina and George (Bonnie) Cox of Oakwood, IL; six grandchildren; and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ernest; two sons, Steven Lee & Bradley Jay; one brother, John; and one great grandson.

Visitation will be at Sanders Funeral Care, 203 S 1st Street in Kingman on Sunday, July 15, 2018 from 4:00pm (IN time) till the time of the Celebration of Life service at 7:00pm (IN time) with Pastor Steve Crum officiating. Burial of cremains will be on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at 10:00am (IL time) at Oakwood Cemetery in Oakwood, IL. Sanders Funeral Care entrusted with care.
