Mrs. Mary Jean Garing, 85, Crawfordsviile, passed away Wednesday, November 2nd, at 11:51 PM in the Wellbrooke of Crawfordsville. She was born August 1st, 1931, in Walcott, to Daniel H. and Sarah E. (Eldridge) Rhodes. She married Robert E. Garing in Fowler on September 24th, 1955. He survives.

Mary was a Court Reporter for 21 years, having worked in Benton County and retiring in 1991 from Vermillion County. She was a 1950 graduate of Fowler High School; a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church, Crawfordsville, and St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Rockville; and in her free time enjoyed cooking, reading and trying new recipes; baking; sewing, antiques, and in her younger years, traveling.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children: Dan (Tabitha) Garing, Thorntown; Jeffrey Garing (Shirley Hupp), Bunker Hill; and Pamela (James) Jansen, Kendallville. Also surviving are sisters: Pearl Mondiek, Kettering, Ohio; Patsy Rhodes, Springfield, Missouri; brother: Ronnie Rhodes, Arizona; grandchildren: Heather, Hiliary, Cara, Dylan, Jesse; and great-grandchild: Peyton. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters: Phyllis, Bertha, and Wilma; brothers: Harvey, Jack, Bill, and infant brother, Steve.

A Funeral Mass is scheduled for 4:00 PM Tuesday, November 8th, at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, 1306 E. Main St., Crawfordsville, with Fr Christopher Shocklee officiating. Cremation will follow services with a Family Committal Service being held at a later date in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Avilla, Indiana. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
