Mrs. Mary Jo Steele Harmon, Crawfordsville, passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday,January 18th, 2018. She was bornApril 14th, 1935in Montgomery County to Ralph and Julia (Armstrong) Jarvis. She married Emery Steele. and he preceded her in death in 1980. She later married Ray Harmon, Jr., who also preceded her in death in 2005.

Mary Jo was a graduate of New Market High School; an active member of the New Market Christian Church, where she was aSundaySchool Teacher and taught Youth Groups for 25 years. She had a doll collection and enjoyed giving doll shows and tea parties, along with hat shows. She was a member of the Double Dozen Home Ec Club; the Red Hat Society; and played in three card clubs.

She is survived by her daughter: Brenda (Duane) Light, New Market; step-sons: Mitch (Shannon) Harmon, Crawfordsville; Josh (Lisa) Harmon, Whitestown; sisters: Harriett Anderson, Bradenton, Florida; Jane Quigno, Paw Paw, Michigan; brothers: Wilbert "Butch" (Judy) Jarvis, Terre Haute; Ralph (Cindy) Jarvis, Tulsa, Oklahoma; and Herschel (Bronwyn) Jarvis, Columbia, South Carolina. Also surviving are grandchildren: Brian (Natasha) Light; Karen (Jon) Plemons; step-grandchildren: Krystal Thompson; Michelle Todd;Taylor Sloane; Natalie Harmon; Conner Hannon; Haley Campbell; Marshall Hannon; 3 great- grandsons; and 5 step great-grandchildren. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her daughter: Janet Jo Steele in 1970.

Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00 PM Monday,January 22nd, at the New Market Christian Church, 300 S. Third St., with Revs. Gary Snowden and Kurt Flora officiating. Burial will follow in the Indian Creek Hill Cemetery at New Market. Friends may call at the church onMonday, from 1:00 PM until the service time. Memorials in Mary Jo's name may be made to the New Market Christian Church.
