Mary Rovene Harriman

Mrs. Mary Harriman, age 92, formerly of Wallace, IN. passed away on Monday evening at Meadow Manor North Rehab facility in Terre Haute, IN. Mary was born on January 10, 1924 in Fountain County Indiana the daughter of Jesse Bayless and Goldie (nee: Bowman) Bayless and graduated from Wallace High School. She married Walter Leslie (Les) Harriman on June 8, 1940 and he preceded her in death on June 3, 1981. Mary worked as a telephone switch board operator back in the day and later she cleaned homes for other families and worked for the former Clouse Processing Plant in Wallace. A well known and loved member of the community Mary was a member of the Phanuel Lutheran church of Wallace and was an active member of the Wallace Order of the Eastern Star.

Mary is survived by 3 nephews: Kenny Bayless if Terre Haute, IN.; Tom Bayless of Bloomingdale, IN. and Bubby McCollum of Wallace, In. She is also survived by 1 niece: Linda Helms of Brookston, IN.; 3 great nephews, and 1 great niece. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, 1 infant son, her brother Gerald Bayless and her sister Clara Bowman.

Funeral services for Mary Harriman will be held at 2:00pm Friday September 23rd at Shoemaker Funeral Home, 202 Bratton Rd., Waynetown, In. with the Rev. Ryan Sowers officiating. The family will receive friends from 12 noon on Friday until the services at 2:00 Pm. Burial will follow in the Wallace Lutheran Cemetery.
