Mrs. Mary Elizabeth McCormick, age 94, joined her Savior in Heaven on Thursday morning September 21,2017 while a resident of Wellbrooke of Crawfordsville, IN.

Mary was born on March 19, 1923 at Waynetown, In, the daughter of Virgil and Gertrude (nee: Dillard) Pierce. She graduated from Waynetown High School and then worked at the Waynetown post office. She married George Russell McCormick February 28, 1942 and while he was in the service she worked and lived in California. When they came home to Waynetown Mary worked at the Wilson Shirt factory and R.R. Donnelley and Sons in Crawfordsville. After they started their family Mary was a homemaker and helpmate on the farm and she and George owned and operated the Waynetown Shell Station from 1966 to 1976. While a newly wed they were members of the Wingate Christian church and Mary was active in the Ladies guild. Later Mary became a member of the Waynetown Baptist Church where she and her family have been very active.

Mary will be greatly missed by her sons and daughter-in-laws, Russell & Stephanie McCormick of San Clemente, Ca.; Thomas and Gina McCormick of Waynertown, IN; Randy & Shelly McCormick of Waynetown, IN. Daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Kipp Wright of Orofino, Idaho and daughter-in-law Janet McCormick of Fort Wayne, IN. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Mary was preceded in death by her husband George on Oct. 9, 1998, son Rodney McCormick. grandson Erick McCormick, grand daughter April Dawn McCormick, sister: Fern Sarver and brothers Richard and Bill Pierce.

Funeral services for Mary McCormick will be held at 2:00pm Monday September 25th at Shoemkaer Funeral Home, 202 Bratton Rd. Waynetown, In. and officiated by Pastor Ron Raffignone. Burial will follow in the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. the family will receive visitors from 2:00pm to 6:00pm Sunday at the funeral home.
