Mary Dell McCoy

Mary Dell (Sowers) McCoy, age 91, of Tangier passed away on Monday, June 13, 2016 at Rockville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Rockville. She was born in Kingman on October 1, 1924 to the late Clarence & Jessie June (Cowgill) Sowers.

She graduated from Tangier High School in 1942 and on December 31, 1945 she married Hershell M. McCoy who preceded her in death on April 25, 1987. She was a house wife and mother who enjoyed sewing, baking, reading and was a great cook. She was a member of the Tangier Friends Church, Ladies Aide, and the Homemakers Club.

She is survived by three daughters, Donna (Robert) Millikan of Tangier, JoAnn (Rick) Lund of Rockville and Pat (Floyd) Branson of Crawfordsville; two sons, Max McCoy of Rockville and Melvin (Gayle) McCoy of Tangier; 14 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Hershell, a daughter-in-law and a grandchild.

Visitation will be on Thursday, June 16, 2016 from 4-8pm at Sanders Funeral Care, 203 S 1st Street in Kingman. Funeral services will be on Friday, June 17, 2016 at 11:00am at the funeral home with Pastors Tom Norris and Steve Crum officiating. Burial will follow at Rush Creek Cemetery.
