Mary M. (Dunbar) Shue, age 89 of Crawfordsville passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, September 19, 2019. She was born July 26, 1930 at Bowers Station, Indiana to the late Austin W. & Catherine I. (Everhardt) Dunbar.
Mary graduated from New Market High School in 1948 and on March 2, 1951 she married Everett E. Shue, who preceded her in death on November 11, 1992. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and American Legion Auxiliary for over 50 years. She worked from 1948-1951 at the State Bank of Advance in Advance, Indiana and from 1951-1985 at the Elston Bank & Trust Company in Crawfordsville.
She enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting and boating with her husband. They traveled 49 of the 50 states and took a retirement trip to the far East; Japan, Philippines, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau in October 1985. After her husband’s death, she traveled domestically and abroad to British Isles, Europe, Russia, Sicily, and Malta. She dearly loved and went on many cruises; Panama Canal, Mediterranean Sea, Saint Lawrence Seaway, Caribbean, Alaska, Mexico, and Hawaii.
She is survived by two sisters, Caroline Nelson of Lafayette and Nancy Rankin of Crawfordsville, along with many special nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by a sister, JoAnn Rodgers and a brother, John Robert “Bob” Dunbar.
No visitation has been arranged, only a quiet graveside service at Old Union Cemetery in Jamestown on Thursday, September 26, 2019 at 2:00pm with Pastor Mike Whitacre officiating.
