Mary Wanda (Holman) Wommack

April 9, 1931 — September 15, 2022

Crawfordsville

With profound sadness we announce the passing of Mary (Holman) Weir- Wommack- our loving mother, sister, aunt, friend to whose lives she touched. Her words of encouragement, wisdom, and comfort always gave us strength in a time of weakness.

Mary W. Wommack, age 91, of Crawfordsville, passed away on Thursday, September 15, 2022 at Bickford Memory Care. She was born on April 9, 1931 to the late Minzy Holman and Corene (Totten) Silbernagel.

Mary married Kenneth Weir on June 5, 1948, and together they had three children. His life was short lived, and he preceded her in death in January 1977. She then married Johnny Wommack in July 1984, sharing 12 years of marriage and many travels. He preceded her in death on April 26, 1997. Her 3rd companion Al Obermiller, they had pleasures of seeking treasures along the routes of travel. Finally, a special friend, Wendall Cope, they spent many hours listening to music and prayer. He was a good friend to fill the quiet years.

She was a member of Whitesville Christian Church, as well as the Order of Eastern Star, Crawfordsville Firefighters Auxiliary and Fraternal Order of the Eagles Auxiliary 1005. She was past Madam President and was awarded the high honor of Mrs. Eagle. She held many office chairs and was proud to be part of the Eagles Motto "People helping People." She enjoyed the club and the many friends she made.

Mary was a dedicated Mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved the role of Grams! She had strong and caring personality and always made friends everywhere she went.
Her life was a living example of her favorite Bible verse, Ephesians 4:32 "And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ."

She is survived by her daughter, Michele (Randy) Borden; daughter-in-law, Elaine Weir; two grandchildren, Ashley (Ryan) Tice and Andrew (Anne) Borden; great-granddaughters, Taylor and Alexandria Tice; step grandson, Tony Hamm; step great-grandchildren, Eric and Sydney Hamm; sisters, Becky Gaphart of Jasper and Marlene (Billie Groff) Holman of Gainesville, FL ; brother-in-law, Mike Czwormiak of Chicago; lifelong special friends, Fred and Twylo Davis; and special niece and nephew, Mark Gibson and Alicia Webb.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; spouses, Kenneth Weir, Johnny Wommack, and Al Obermiller; sons, Dennis and Derrick Weir; sister, Patsy Czworniak; brother, Sonny Holman; best friend, Doris Davis; step grandson, Michael Hamm.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at Whitlock Place and Bickford Memory Care for taking excellent care of Mary. Mary adored the many staff members that cared for her during her time there.
