Mrs. Maxine Gladys Stevens, 86, Crawfordsville, passed away peacefully in her daughter, Terry's, home on Tuesday, August 15th, 2017, at 12:09 PM.She was born October 8th, 1930 in Crawfordsville, to Raymond Lawrence and Mabel Gladys (Rhoads) Blessing.She married Marion Eugene Stevens on May 29th, 1948, in Crawfordsviiie.He preceded her in death on September 28th, 2011.

Maxine was a Homemaker.She attended Mace, New Ross, and Crawfordsville schools and her memberships included the Christ Lutheran Church, Crawfordsville; the Alamo Order of the Eastern Star #498, where she served as the Worthy Matron; was the Past President of District 9, Order of the Eastern Star; was a member of the Near & Far Extension Homemakers Club, where she received the "50 Year Member Award"; and served as the Montgomery County Extension President for 2 years.

She is survived by her daughters: Elaine (Dick) Trout, Crawfordsville; Kathy (Mike) Hesler, Alamo; Sheila (Dan) Sering, Crawfordsville; Terry (Tim) Surber, Crawfordsville; her son: Brian Stevens, Crawfordsville; her "honorary son" Bruce Ballard, Petersburg, Indiana; 13 grandchildren; several great and great-great grandchildren; several loving foster children; and several nieces and nephews.In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; her brother: Gordon Blessing and his wife, Brenda; grandsons: Trent Surber and Wesley Stevens.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM Saturday, August 19th, at the Christ Lutheran Church, 300 W. South Boulevard, Crawfordsville, with Rev. Kelly Nelson officiating.Burial will follow in the Indian Creek Hill Cemetery, New Market.Friends may call at the church on Friday, August 18th, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM.Eastern Star services will be held at the church at 7:45 PM on Friday.Powers-Priebe Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.Memorials in Maxine's name may be made to the church or to: St. Elizabeth Hospice, PO Box 7501, Lafayette, IN 47903-9912.
