Melvin Rex Runyon

Melvin Rex Runyon, age 91 of Crawfordsville passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at Wellbrooke of Crawfordsville.  He was born in New Ross on June 14, 1928 to the late Eugene & Jeanette (Mason) Runyon.

Melvin graduated from Crawfordsville High School in 1948 and on May 28, 1948 he married Shirley Ann Hesler, who preceded him in death on June 16, 2014.  He worked as a printer at R.R. Donnelley’s for over 42 years.  He enjoyed fishing, loved golfing, was a huge Colts, IU, and Pacers fan, and loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by a son, Steve (Julie) Runyon of Charleston IL; a daughter, Jane (Tom) Murray of Crawfordsville; four grandchildren, Aimee (Tanner) Garrison, Aaron Allee, Chris (Ashley) Walsh, and Faith Haugh; five great-grandchildren, Daniel, Elizabeth, Preston, Gage, and Calvin; and his best friend, Larry Lynch.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Shirley; a son, Douglas Runyon; two brothers, Kenny & Cecil Runyon; and a sister, Mary Ellen Rader.

There will be a graveside service at Oak Hill North Cemetery, 392 Oak Hill Road, in Crawfordsville on Friday, August 23, 2019 at 2:00pm with Pastor Gary Edwards officiating.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given in his memory to the Animal Welfare League of Montgomery County, 1104 Big 4 Arch Rd, Crawfordsville, IN 47933.  Sanders Priebe Funeral Care entrusted with care.  Share memories and condolences online at www.sandersfuneralcare.com
