Merle Gene Hickman

June 24, 1931 — February 20, 2018

Merle Gene Hickman, age 86, of Kingman passed away on February 20, 2018 at Union Hospital in Terre Haute. He was born in Warren County on June 24, 1931 to the late Jess H. & Lona S. (Martin) Hickman.

On December 24, 1949 in Cayuga he married Betty (Price) Hickman, who preceded him in death on September 24, 1996. He then fell in love again with Dorothy Johnson, who preceded him in death on February 3, 2016. Merle was a lifelong truck driver, had a mowing business in which he mowed several local cemeteries, and he enjoyed fishing on the Wabash River.

He is survived by two sons, Robert Hickman of Kingman and Ronny (Diana) Hickman of Veedersburg; four daughters, Nancy Gosser of Hoopeston IL, Genna (James) England of Danville, IL, Kathy (Danny) Utley of Kingman, and Jessica Moore of Wallace; son-in-law, Lemmine Pithoud; sister, Carol Zink of Lafayette; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; his companion, Dorothy; and two daughters, Deborah Pithoud and Kelley Robinson.

Visitation will be 1:00pm – 2:00pm on Friday, February 23, 2018 at Sanders Funeral Care, 203 S 1st Street, in Kingman. A graveside service will follow at Lower Mound Cemetery in Perrysville with Roger HerZog officiating. Sanders Funeral Care entrusted with care.
