Mrs. Mildred A. Freeland, 94, Crawfordsville, passed away Thursday, February 19th, at 6:45 AM in the Williamsburg Health & Rehab. She was born November 18th, 1920, in Peterson, New Jersey, to George and Mary Sell. She married John R. Freeland, Jr. on May 24th, 1941, in Echo Lake, New Jersey. He preceded her in death in 2002.
Mrs. Freeland and her husband lived in Pompton Lakes, New Jersey for many years before relocating to Crawfordsville in 1973. She had worked for several years as a Secretary and later as a Hostess at the Holiday Inn in Crawfordsville until her retirement. She was a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church. She enjoyed being a Homemaker, and especially enjoyed cooking for her family. She was a proficient knitter, often making items to donate to various charities. She was an avid reader; an animal lover; and a sports fan with a particular fondness for the Indianapolis Colts.
She is survived by four daughters: Mary Anne (John) Wichroski, Hampton, New Hampshire; Emily (Russ) Mills, Keene, New Hampshire; Susan (Chuck) Welsh, Travelers Rest, South Carolina; and Nancy (Richard, deceased) Johnson, Crawfordsville. She also leaves 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at a later date. Powers-Priebe Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials may be made in Mrs. Freeland's memory to: The Animal Welfare League, 1104 Big Four Arch Rd., Crawfordsville, IN 47933
