Mrs. Nina Wilkinson, 94, passed away Saturday February 22, at 3:10 am St. Elizabeth Hospital, Crawfordsville, In.
Nina was born October 29, 1919 at home on Jess an Zula Sayers Mullen's farm in Waynetown, IN. She married Charles L. Wilkinson on September 17, 1939 at their home in Waynetown. Nina was prceded in death by two children, Kathryn Mary and Ray Allen, her father and mother and two sisters, Amy Foreman and Dorothy Kyle from Elkhart, IN. They both graduated from Waynetown High School in 1936 and 1937repectively. In 1942, Charles and Nina moved to the farm north of Waynetown where Nina resided until her passing with he help of compassionate caregivers, Lindy Thompson, Amy Peters, Kelsey Dickerson, Myrna Hardin and Jackie Waddell.
Nina was a wife and homemaker who had any creative projects. She was a brilliant seamstress and cook. She encouraged her two children Karen Fruits and Rex Wilkinson to pursue music, which became their life long professions.
Nina, a professing Christian, was an active member of the Waynetown Baptist Church. She was Superintendent of the Junior Department, leader of Ladies Aid and Mission Society, planner of many programs and she sang in the choir.
Nina loved traveling with Charles in their mini-home covering nearly all of the United States, sometimes with family members. Many winter months were spent with clos friends in Texas and two trips to Europe were enjoyed.
Nina has two children Karen Fruits, (Keith), Rex Wilkinson, (Carol), four grandchildren, Kathryn Eads, (Brad), Mark French, (Sandra), Amy Pryor, (Matt)< and Beth Raduly, (Jozsef). Seven great grandchildren, Tyler an Lacey Goedde, Jamie Blanchard, (Thomas), Joshua French, Cora ad Isaac Raduly, and August Rex Pryor.
Nina also has step grandchildren, Kevin Fruits, (Dana), Brian Fruits, (Mary), Susan O'Keefe, (Jack), and step great grandchildren Kendrick, Allie, Clyde, Patrick and Andrew Fruits and Lucy, John Freeman, George Henry, and William Hogan O'Keefe.
Calling for friends and family will be at Shoemaker Funeral Home, Waynetown, IN. on Monday, February 24, 2014 from 4:00 to 8:00pm. The funeral will be Tuesday February 25, 204 at the funeral home at 10:00 am with burial to follow in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery.
