Maxine Lay Fulwider

Maxine Lay Fulwider, age 85 of New Market, was reunited with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at home. She was born on September 3, 1939 in New Castle, IN to Louis and Sarah Jane Lay. Maxine married the love of her life, Billy Joe Fulwider, on November 11, 1958 in Advance, spending 57 years together until his passing in 2015.

Maxine was a graduate of Granville Wells Schools, Class of 1957, and worked at Crawfordsville Hospital for several years. A devoted Christian, she was a charter member of New Hope Christian Church and active with the Worship Team. Maxine was also active with the Sunshine Chorus and the 50 Plus Club. She had a great love for music, playing the piano and singing at church. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially traveling and playing card games.

Maxine is survived by her children, Tim (Suzi) Fulwider and Robin (Ted) Tague; 11 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and a sister, Juanita Impicciche. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Billy Joe; and her brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at New Hope Christian Church, 2746 S US Highway 231 outside of Crawfordsville from 1:00 pm until the time of the service at 4:00 pm. Cremation was chosen with a private burial at Indian Creek Hill Cemetery at a later date, where she will be laid to rest next to Billy Joe. Sanders Funeral Care Crawfordsville is entrusted with care.
