Oralia (Arlene) Painter

Mrs. Oralia (Arlene) G. Painter, age 80 of Crawfordsville, IN, passed away on January 15, 2021 at 7:14 am after a short battle with COVID pneumonia. She was born October 15, 1940, in Hughes, AK, to Luther and Ester Gonzalez.

Arlene married James I. Painter on July 14, 1962, in Waukegan, Illinois.  James preceded her in death on December 24, 2013.  She was a member of the Wabash Avenue Presbyterian Church since 1968, an officer of the Anna Harter Walter Women’s Association and a long-time member of the Psi Iota Xi Sorority.  In her free time, she enjoyed sewing, reading, playing bridge and spending time with her grandchildren.

Arlene is survived by her four daughters: Pamela (Neil) Karle, Crawfordsville, IN; Elizabeth (Steven) Howen, Austin, TX; Amy Walls, Crawfordsville, IN; and Amber (Michael) Pfotenhauer, Greenwood, IN as well as her 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.  Also surviving are a brother and 3 sisters: Homer (Jinx) Gonzalez, Bailey, CO; Olga Early, Glendale, AZ; Linda (Joe) Levay, Portland, OR; Mary Martinez, Glendale, AZ; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband (James), her parents (Luther & Ester) and 3 of her brothers (Charlie, Alex & Jimmy).
