Orvel W Stewart

Mr. Orvel W. Stewart, age 92, of Crawfordsville, IN passed away at his home in the company of his family on Tuesday evening June 21. 2016. Orvel was born in Lawrence County Indiana on April 25, 1924 the son of Jess Carl and Stelle (nee: Miller) Stewart and attended Smithville School. On October 7, 1944 he married Maryann Deckard and they settled on a farm at Wingate, Indiana in 1945. They later moved to a farm in Fountain county near Alamo. Maryann preceded him in death on February 17, 1980. Orvel then married Alice Priest on May 28, 1981 and she survives. Orvel is a member of the Garfield Apostolic Church, the Alamo Masonic Lodge where he was a 50 year member, the Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis, and the Shrine club of Montgomery county.

Mr. Stewart is survived by his sons: Steve Stewart of Crawfordsville, IN; Dan and Linda Stewart and Paul and Bonnie Jo Stewart of Waynetown, Indiana. Step-son Mark Priest of Indianapolis, Indiana. Two grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and 3 step grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, a son Larry Stewart, and daughters Sharon Stewart and Judith West.

Funeral services for Orvel W. Stewart will be held at Shoemaker Funeral Home, 202 Bratton Road Waynetown, Indiana on Friday June 24, 2016 at 2:00pm with the Rev. Vernon Dowell officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill North, in Crawfordsville, Indiana. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday June 23, 2016 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm. Masonic rites will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday.
