Pastor Walter Charles Terry, 75, Crawfordsville, passed away Friday, May 15th, at 8:49 PM in the Franciscan St. Elizabeth Crawfordsville Hospital. He was born May 30, 1939, in Crawfordsville to Clayton Eston and Ethel Elizabeth (Manges) Terry. He married Bonnielea Wilkey on April 3, 1960 in Indianapolis. She survives.

Pastor Terry retired in 2005 after 25 years in the ministry. He had been the pastor of four Indiana churches: New Hope Baptist Church of Clay City; Camden Baptist Church, Camden; Edwardsport Baptist Church, Edwardsport; and Leota Baptist Church, Scottsburg. Prior to becoming a pastor, he worked for 28 years at Service Engraving in Indianapolis. He was a 1957 graduate of Warren Central High School, Indianapolis, and a 1987 graduate of Southern Baptist Seminary, Louisville. In his free time he enjoyed reading the Bible and western novels.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by Elizabeth and Josh Hodges and their 3 sons, who loved Walter and Bonnie as if they were their own parents and grandparents. Also surviving are his sister Eileen (Gary) Thurman of Blytheville, Arkansas, and numerous Terry and Manges cousins.

Cremation was selected with a Memorial Service being held Wednesday, May 20, at 11:00 AM in the First Baptist Church of Crawfordsville, 1905 Lebanon Rd., Crawfordsville, with Rev. Isaac Zull officiating. The family will greet friends Wednesday at the church from 10:00 AM until the service time. A family committal service will be held at a later date in the Oak Hill North Cemetery.
