Mrs. Patricia Lou Ward, 65, Whitesville, passed away Sunday, May 10th, at 3:30 PM in her home after an extended illness. She was born March 5th, 1950, in Crawfordsville, to Leland and Elsie Lucille (Geiger) Axsom. She married Welby Ward, Jr. on November 4th, 1968, in Crawfordsville. He survives.

Mrs. Ward had been the Bartender at the VFW Post #1431 for 16 years and had also been a Tupperware Representative for several years. Her memberships included the Crawfordsville VFW and American Legion Posts Ladies Auxilliaries; the Eagles Lodge; The Fremont Baptist Church; she attended New Market High School; and in her free time enjoyed playing Bingo, pull tab games, and being with her children and grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter: Patricia (Chet) Murray, Crawfordsville; sons: Welby J. (Christine) Ward, Clarks Hill; and Sammy J. (Michele) Ward, Crawfordsville. Also surviving are her sisters: Kathy VanCleave, New Ross; Norma Heater, Crawfordsville; Lenna (Bob) Mings, Crawfordsville; Martha (Barry) Cowell, Indianapolis; brothers: Terry (Lisa) Cooksey, Ladoga; Rex (Diane) Cooksey, Crawfordsville; and 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Leland, Jr. and Robert E. Axsom: and sisters: Mary Ann Cooksey and Carolyn Nicholls.

Funeral services are scheduled for 7:00 PM Thursday, May 14th, at Powers-Priebe Funeral Home, with Pastor Dan Aldrich officiating. Cremation will follow the funeral service. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Memorials may be sent to the: VFW Post 1431 Ladies Auxilliary, 117 N. Water St., Crawfordsville, IN 47933.
