Phyliss Jean Gleason

Phyliss Jean (Allen) Gleason, age 85 of Crawfordsville passed away on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at Whitlock Place in Crawfordsville. She was born in Montgomery County on October 4, 1932 to the late Freeman & Leona (Krout) Allen.

She attended New Market School and on March 26, 1948 she married William Edward Gleason Sr., who preceded her in death on June 12, 2007. Throughout the years she worked at Cambridge Inn, Mallory’s, and was a cook at the TKE house fraternity at Wabash College. She was a member of the Eastside Baptist Church, Crawfordsville American Legion Auxiliary and the Women of the Moose Lodge. She enjoyed gardening, loved to play bingo and loved to gripe.

She is survived by her two sons, William “Billy” (Grace) Gleason of Crawfordsville and Ben (Linda) Gleason of West Virginia; two daughters, Patricia (John) Branson and Amy (Carl) VanGilder, both of Crawfordsville; two sisters, Onie Hunley of Crawfordsville and Mary Brady of Linden; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William; a daughter, Linda Walker; a brother, Carl Allen; three sisters, Bernice Williams, Grace Swank, and Marge Butler; and a great granddaughter.

Visitation will be at Sanders Priebe Funeral Care, 315 S Washington Street, in Crawfordsville on Saturday, June 2, 2018 from 12:00pm till the time of service at 2:00pm with Pastor Steve Whicker officiating.
