Mrs. Phyllis Marie Hargis, 78, Parkersburg, passed away Friday, December 2nd, at 12:49 PM, in the Danville Regional Rehab Center, Danville, Indiana. She was born December 21st, 1937, in Putnam County, to Russell George and Ina Marie (Trump) Scott. She married Donald L. Hargis on February 13th, 1953, in Greencastle. He preceded her in death on November 28th, 2013.

Phyllis had been a Custodian for 12 years for Southmont Schools. She also had worked at Sommer Metalcraft; Dekalb; and Wilson Greenhouse. She attended New Market Schools; was a member of the Parkersburg Christian Church; and in her free time enjoyed doing latch hook, cross-stitching; and working in her garden.

She is survived by her children: Debbie (Steve) Delano, Danville, Indiana; Beverly (Mark) Delano, New Richmond; Carol Perkins, Parkersburg; Jim (Sherry) Hargis, Parkersburg; and Donald Hargis, New Market. Also surviving is her sister: Pat Groves, New Market; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; her brother: Ronald Scott; her grandson: Matthew Delano; and her son-in-law: Jim Perkins.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 AM Friday, December 9th, at the Parkersburg Christian Church, (86 E. 1150 S., Ladoga, IN 47954), with Pastor Rich Fuller officiating. Burial will follow in the Hebron Cemetery, Russellville. Friends may call at the church on Thursday, December 8th, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM.
