Ralph E. Ransom, age 86, of Kingman, passed away on Monday, September 24, 2012 at Union Hospital in Terre Haute. Ralph was born on April 17, 1926 in rural Kingman to Frank and Myrtle Wills Ransom. He married Phyllis Shoaf on June 27, 1946 and they have been married for 66 years and 3 months.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Ransom of Kingman; one daughter, Janet Keeling of Hillsboro; grandchildren, Justin L. (Adrienne) Keeling of Carmel and Jennifer N. Black of Hillsboro; granddaughter-in-law, Shelly Keeling of Greenwood; four great grandchildren, Seth William Keeling of Greenwood, Craig Black and Bryce White, both of Hillsboro, and Isaac Keeling of Carmel; three sister-in-laws, Mabel Ransom and Marge Keeling both of Kingman, and Joyce (Phillip) Berard of Crawfordsville; one brother-in-law, Gordon (Shirley) Shoaf of Kingman, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Rex Ransom; grandson, Jason E. Keeling on September 10, 2008; and a nephew, Marion Ransom.

Ralph was retired from the United States Postal Service and was a Postmaster in Kingman for 17 years and a Rural Mail Carrier for RR#1. Ralph was a friend to many and loved life. He was a 1944 graduate of Kingman High School and also served in the Navy.

Ralph belonged to the Kingman Christian Church, Kingman Lodge #314 F&AM, Scottish Rite of Terre Haute, Zorah Shrine, Fountain Chapter #204 O.E.S, Wallace Low 12, Rockville Low 12, Kingman Fraternal Cemetery Board, and Kingman American Legion Post #384.

Visitation is on Wednesday, September 26, 2012 from 4:00-7:30pm with Masonic Memorial Service at 7:30pm with 33rd Degree Ceremony following at Sanders Funeral Care, 203 S 1st Street, Kingman. Services are Thursday, September 27, 2012 at 2:00pm at Sanders Funeral Care with burial to follow at Kingman Fraternal Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Kingman Christian Church, PO Box 35, Kingman, IN 47952; Kingman Fraternal Cemetery, PO Box 84, Kingman, IN 47952 or charity of one's choice.
