Mr. Raymond Wendell "Windy" Runyon, 82, Crawfordsville,passed away in his home on Saturday, December 13th, at 9:25 AM. He was born January 17th, 1932, in Alamo, to Raymond L. and Nancy (Foss) Runyon. He married Barbara E. Crane on March 4th, 1962, in Crawfordsville. She survives.
Mr. Runyon retired from Mid States Wire where he had worked for 42 years as a Wire Drawer and Pettybone Operator. He was a U S Navy Korean War Veteran; he attended Alamo Schools and the New Market United Methodist Church; loved auto racing and A. J. Foyt; also loved football, I.U. Basketball, and traveling.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter: Stacy Rae Burkhart, New Market; brother: Earl Dean (Beverly) Runyon, Hammond; sisters: Wandalene Smith, Rockledge, Florida; Marilyn Nelson, Dyer, Indiana; Lois (Loren) Smith, Loveland, Colorado; and Marcheta (Bob) Dixon, Crawfordsville. Also surviving are grandchildren: Chandler and Taylor Burkhart. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother: Don Runyon; and nephews: Terry and Greg Runyon.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 AM Thursday, December 18th, at Powers-Priebe Funeral Home with Rev. William Pike officiating. Burial will follow in the Alamo Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 17th, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Military Rites will be conducted by the U.S.Navy and the Crawfordsville VFW and American Legion Honor Guard.
