Mrs. Rebecca May Craig, 90, Crawfordsville, formerly of New Market, passed away Friday, April 11, at 9:27 PM, in the Williamsburg Healthcare. She was born September 26, 1923, in Crawfordsville, to Alva A. and Thelma S. (Douglas) Nichols. She married Thomas G. Craig on June 3, 1944, in the Mt. Zion Methodist Church in Crawfordsville. He preceded her in death in 1998.
Mrs. Craig was a LPN at Culver Hospital in the 1970's and early 1980's. She had also worked as a Telephone Operator in the New Market Telephone Office in the 1950's and 1960's. Prior to that she had been a "car deliverer" for R. M. Horner's; and served in the U. S. Navy in 1944-1945. She was a graduate of Crawfordsville High School; a member of the New Hope Christian Church; and a member of the New Market 50 Plus Club;
She is survived by her children: John G. (Phyllis) Craig, Crawfordsville; David Wm. "Bill" (Dawn) Craig, Alba, Texas; and Lois (Randy) Whitehead, Mulberry Grove, Illinois. Also surviving are 7 grandchildlren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild. In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister: Martha Stout.
Per Becky's wishes, Family Graveside services will be held Tuesday, April 15, in the Oak Hill North Cemetery. There will not be any public visitation or services. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Heart Association, 52 Walnut St., Lafayette, IN 47905, is appreciated
