Rebecca Sue Overholt

Rebecca Sue (Canine) Overholt (63) went to be with her Lord on Dec.21, 2015. She was a lifelong teacher and taught for four years at Wilson Elementary School in Crawfordsville, In; as well as teaching in Pennsylvania, Texas and New Jersey. She earned her first M.Ed at Purdue and at Rutgers University earned a second Masters as well as an Ed.D. Becky also served as School Principal in New Jersey and was an Assoc. Professor at Shippensburg University in Middle Level Education. She loved training teachers and traveled to India and Indonesia to train educators as well as to share with them about her Savior.

Rebecca is survived by her loving husband Steve, her children Joshua, Joanna, Jodie and 10 grandchildren. She is also survived by her mother, Margaret Canine, 2 brothers Dr. Sam Canine of Kileen, TX, and Dr. John Canine of Lake Orion, MI, and sister Patricia Allen of Crawfordsville, IN. She is also survived by multiple nephews, nieces and many cousins.

Rebecca often said that it should never be said of her that she "lost her battle" with cancer, rather she victoriously left this world to be with her Lord and Savior in Heaven.

Services will be held Monday, Dec. 28th at East Side Baptist Church, 2000 Traction Rd. Crawfordsville, IN. Friends may pay respects from 10 A.M. to 12 P.M. with the service taking place at Noon. Burial will follow immediately after at Freedom Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests that gifts be made to the Becky Overholt Memorial scholarship to Cedarville University, 251 Main St., Cedarville, OH 45314. A Memorial service will also be held in Little Egg Harbor, NJ.
