Reginald "Ray" Allen Blizzard, age 87 of Indianapolis, passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2025 at Wellbrooke of Avon. He was born in Howardville, Missouri on July 6, 1937 to the late Seth Blizzard & Mary Lavenia Lamar.
Ray grew up in Missouri and joined the United States Army at the age of 15 and was sent to Korea, but was then returned home to his mother once the Army learned he was only 15 years old. He then reenlisted at 17 years old and proudly served his country in the United States Army and served in the Korean War. He was married to Barbara L. (Rogers) Blizzard, who preceded him in death on January 13, 2006. He was a steel metal worker and worked for Local 20 Indianapolis Steel Metal Union. He enjoyed collecting coins, doing puzzles, was a civil war buff, loved reading the bible and attending bible study. He attended Plainfield Baptist Church.
He is survived by a daughter, Regina (Skip) Potora of Roachdale; a son, Barry Lee Blizzard of Virginia; three grandchildren, Brooke (Josh) Wilson, Reggie Blizzard III, and Seth Blizzard; five great grandchildren, Reggie IV, Brynleigh, Sasha, Issac, and Elsie; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Barbara Blizzard; a son, Reginald "Reggie" Blizzard II; and three siblings, Imogene, Herman and Cliff.
Visitation will be at Sanders Funeral Care Waynetown, 202 Bratton Road, in Waynetown on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, from 1:00pm till the time of the funeral service at 2:00pm with Pastor Jared Skinner officiating and military honors by the United States Army and Legion Post 72 Honor Guard.
