Rex Whittington

Rex Mark Whittington, a courageous warrior, died December 6, 2024 at 5:30pm with his family by his side, at home in rural Fulton Township. Rex was born March 5th 1956 to Fuson and Irene Whittington. Rex was a life resident of Fountain County, working the family farm until his passing.

Rex first married Tina and together they had Joshua, Jacob (Pacia), and Hannah (Adam) Witsman. They later divorced.

Rex met Robin twenty five years ago, and they married after Robin finally said yes, spending twenty one years in marriage and partnership. Robin brought her children Shawn Abernathy, Tiffany (Travis) Cates, and Lyndsey (Alvin) Nelson into the family. Together Rex and Robin share eleven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Rex is preceded in death by his parents; an infant sibling; brothers Gerald, Tom, Joe Paul, and Frank. Rex is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and his siblings John, Anne Pittman, Jan Ludlow, and twin brother Max and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Rex and Robin went on many adventures in their time together, traveling to Florida, Michigan, and the Dakotas. Countless miles were driven looking for deer and turkey in the evenings. Trips to the Island to tend the cows, check the crops, and meet up with friends.

Rex enjoyed his annual trip with the guys to go fishing in Canada, catching walleye and northern, and telling tall tales (all of which were true). Often returning to regale others in their adventures. Rex enjoyed spending time in the woods, whether hunting deer or mushrooms, he was always happy to be in nature.

Rex had many, many lifelong friends that were incredibly special to him and they will miss him deeply.

All are welcome to a Gathering of Family and Friends on Friday, Dec 13, 2024 from 5pm to 7pm at Rivercrest Golf Course, 14 Club House Drive, Covington, Indiana. Casual attire is requested, wear your favorite flannel if you have one.
