Richard Wood Grenard, passed away on November 12, 2014.

He was born July 4, 1923, the middle son of Arnet and Virgie Grnard in Waynetown, IN.

A loving husband, Richard met the love of his life, Pauline Solomon Grenard when they were teenagers. they were happily married for sixty six years until her death on June 2, 2010. He was a loving father and grandfather and was also preceded in death by his son, Bradley Ray Grenard on September 3, 2006; and two infant sons, Gregory and Brian; as well as his two brothers, Robert of Lafayette and Donald of Waynetown.

He is survived by a daughter, Sylvia Grenard, of Crawfordsville; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Grenard of Otterbein; grandchildren Chad Commingore, Michelle Comingore (Lisa), Rich Comingore and Tammy Sousin (Harry); and two great grandsons, Robert and Christian Cousin.

Richard was a proud veteran who achieved the rank of Corporal in the Marine Corps and served in WWII from September 1942 to November 1945. He loved to tell schoolchildren of his service experience and the importance of the freedoms we enjoy/ Richard was thrilled to have been able to go to Washington DC on the Homor Flight in April 2013.

He was retired from Kroger Grocery and enjoyed many hobbies including painting, woodworking, birdwatching and reading.

He was a dedicated member of the Eastside Baptist Church, Crawfordsville, IN.

according to his wishes, he is to be cremated. Visitation will be from 9:00 am to 11:00 am on November 22, 2014 at the Shoemaker Funeral Home Waynetown with military honors at the funeral home. Interment will immediately follow at the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery.
