Richard Earl Holt, age 70, of Kingman, and formerly of Michigantown, IN passed away at 4:07pm on Friday December 21, 2012. He was born July 22, 1942 to the late Gilbert and Elizabeth Anna (Rice) Holt. He married Betty (Grider) Holt on August 06, 1960 in Crawfordsville.
Richard attended Darlington schools, worked for Chrysler Corporation for 30 years as a machine repairman, and then started his own family-owned and operated welding machine and overhaul shop. His hobbies included being a machinist and fabricator, building houses and shops, restoring antique cars and tractors, building and collecting hit-n-miss engines and playing the banjo, guitar, and mandolin. He was a 32nd degree Master Mason of Masonic Lodge #82 and a member of the Eastern Star Lodge, both in Russiaville, IN. He belonged to the Florida Flywheelers Antique Engine Club, Cowboy Christian Group, and was a member and deacon at the Kingman Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Betty (Grider) Holt of Kingman, sons, Richard (Carol) Holt of New Ross, Wayne (Marta) Holt of Noblesville, Kevin (Janelle) Holt of Tipton; daughters, Terri (Glynn) Holt of Evansville, Amy (James) Rawlinson of Cicero, Michelle Holt of Moline, IL; brothers, Frank (Jerry) Holt of Linden, Wesley (Priscilla) Holt of Murray KY, Carl Holt of LaPorte; sister Dottie Caskey of Texas; 11 grandchildren, Mandee Newgent, Jessica Wright, Stacey Coleman, Jeremaih Holt, Samantha Smith, Corey Holt, Summer Power, Heather Power, Cassidy Holt, Taylor Cline-Wallen, Victoria Holt; and 9 great grandchildren, Blake, Kaden, Peyton, Conner, Madison, Presley, Kaelynn, Kaylea, and Brittany.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Elizabeth Anna Holt; sisters, Mary Rose, Viegie, and Thelma; and a great grandchild Brody Power.
Funeral services Thursday December 27, 2012 at 2pm at the Kingman Christian Church, 123 W State Rd. 234 in Kingman with Pastor Coy Overpeck officiating. Cremation will follow. Visitation will be held from 12pm until the time of service at the church on Thursday. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Kingman Christian Church, PO Box 35, Kingman, IN 47952.
