Richard L. Hood

Richard “Whitey” L. Hood, age 84 of Greencastle passed away on May 7, 2018 at Franciscan Health Lafayette East Hospital. He was born in Bainbridge, Indiana on January 4, 1934 to the late William Robert & Gladys Marie (Stewart) Hood.
Richard graduated from Greene Township High School in Parke County and married Mary Lou (Philpot) Hood, who preceded him in death in 2000. He retired from Fauber Construction after 40 years as a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of the Operators Engineering Union and enjoyed hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting, and was an animal lover.
He is survived by his son, Richard “Rick” Lee Hood Jr. of Crawfordsville; a brother, Gary (Marjorie) Hood of Greencastle; two sisters, Wilma (Ed) Deck of WA and Shirley (Keith) Kinkead of Crawfordsville; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Bob Hood.
There will be a graveside service at Oak Hill Cemetery Mausoleum, 392 Oak Hill Road, in Crawfordsville at 10:00am on Friday, May 11, 2018 with Rev. Larry Hammond officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given in Richard’s memory to Creekside Animal Rescue, 11791 N County Road 800 E, Roachdale, IN 46172. Sanders Priebe Funeral Care entrusted with care.
