Richard McCarty

Richard Francis McCarty, 78, formerly of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, passed away May 1st at his residence in Crawfordsville. Richard "Dick" was born August 7th, 1935 in Franklin, Indiana. After graduating high school, Dick joined the Army and later graduated from Ohio University with a degree in journalism. He became a successful business owner of Studio One Photography in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, where he lived for many years. He relocated his photography business to Crawfordsville in 1984 where he continued to work in the craft that he dearly loved.

Survivors include ex-wife Margaret Jones McCarty of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, brother Ronald McCarty (Jennifer) of Ft Myers, Florida, daughters Alison M. Wilson of Atlantic Beach, Florida, and Kristen M. Johnson (Jeffrey) of Northport, Alabama. Also surviving are grandchildren: Ann C. Wilson, Katherine F Wilson, Richard Fletcher Johnson, Dianna M. Johnson and Olivia A. Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents: Rev. Francis T. and Marjorie F. McCarty.

Dick loved the University of Alabama and their winning football teams, live music, a good joke, family vacations, and especially watching his grandchildren grow.

Cremation was chosen without local services. Powers-Priebe Funeral Home assisted with arrangements. The family requests that in lieu of flowers that charitable donations be made to: Riley Memorial Association/ Riley Children's Hospital, 50 S. Meridian St., Suite 500, Indianapolis, IN 46204
