Robert Allen (Bob) Jeffers peacefully transitioned from his earthly home into eternal life at 1:45 p.m. October 27th, 2016 in his home, surrounded by his family. He was born December 4th, 1935 in rural Veedersburg to William H. and Pauline Brading Jeffers. Bob was a 1953 graduate of Bloomingdale High School in Bloomingdale, Indiana. He married the love of his life, Sondra Sue Rennick on March 8, 1957 at the Friend's Church Parsonage. She survives.
Bob was an industrious man who knew the value of an honest days' work. He worked for Jeffers and Sons Trucking with his father for several years. He then became and owner/operator doing over the road truck driver hauling of tile/pipe for Moreman Trucking Company, Ringle Express, and Liquid Transporters. He began working for Sowers Dri-Gas in 1964. He drove a bulk truck, hauling propane for many years and retired on April 1st, 2005.
Bob moved his family to Kingman in the fall of 1964. He built a new home in 1966 and started Kingman Mobile Home Park in 1973. He owned and operated the Kingman Mobile Home Park until moving to Crawfordsville in 1996. Bob was a Kingman Town Board Member from 1983-1996. Bob was loved by many and known affectionately as the "Mayor of Kingman." Bob joined the Army National Guard in 1956 and received an honorable discharge in October 1962. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge in Bloomindale from 1968 until his death. He was a past Master in 1975 and 1990. There was nothing Bob loved more than spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bob also enjoyed spending time working in his yard.
In addition to his wife, he leaves behind to cherish his memory, four sons: Robert A. Jeffers Jr. (Jennifer), Richard D. Jeffers (Angie), Randall D. Jeffers (Amanda), Rodney E. Jeffers (Marcy); a sister: Judi Robinson (Dennis); grandchildren: Ryan Jeffers, Rachel Jeffers, Zachary Jeffers, Randall Jeffers Jr., Autumn Hayden, David Jeffers, and Jada Sue Jean Jeffers; four step-grandchildren: Dalton and Khloey Surface, Tommy and Tawny Hamm; great-grandchildren, Kane and Zoee Jeffers. He was proceeded in death his parents; brothers: Bill and John Jeffers; a sister Jayn Whittenmyer; a cousin Zeke Brading; and two special friends: Bill and Margaret Fritze.
Services are scheduled for Monday evening, October 31st, at Powers-Priebe Funeral Home, starting with Masonic Services at 7:00 PM followed by the funeral service with Rev. Mike Whitacre officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Per Bob's wishes cremation will follow the services.
